#Microsoft office 2000 sr 1a update#
as one last favour to me pehaps you would be so kind to all us 2000 diehards and post my ramblings on the update to any other forum you think it might be usefull, judgeing by the number of near tearfull plees like my own I have read we need you! I shall cut my workload by simply copying a fully updated version of Office 2000 to disk for backup and individual backups numbered in order of application saved to a separate disk in case the former fails, hopefully I wont need to suffer the same panic till £he nex£ £ime. You point out that you cannot dwell on update problems in this forum, my apology. My guess, does Microsoft want me to upgrade?, it is the only course offered with ease. My Office programming works well and doesn't wear out. I do not see the point now of further worry about Validation, it would be of little positive help as Office 2000 is no longer supported. it appears as though microsoft have walked out of the Office 2000 office, pardon the pun, locked the door and left the stray ends waving aimlessly around. shortly after the obligatory restart, SP3 from microsoft Office 2000 updates list page, this time recognising me as updatable?. After the download I opened the temp folder, opened the setup.ex and away it all run.

Following some advise on the update forum I finaly managed to download SR1a from Technet by searching them for Office 2000 updates, downloading to a new folder in My Documents I named temporary.

Thanking you in anticipation, Regards John.ĭear Darin MS, Thankyou for your reply. I also tried to revalidate Office 2000 but failed, I deduce it to be due to it being older than Win XP as is mentioned in a list of probable reasons. o2ksr 1a.exe loads and starts me off on the Service 1a(SR-1a) update After the wizard button pushing the update starts to download which then stops with the message "Office 2000 update did not complete successfully, contact Microsoft Technical Support, see log file office SR-1 setup(0001).txt." I cannot find this log file. Can someone give me the idiots step by step guide so as to get me through 1a(SR-1a) and thereafter SP3. I had a look but was seriously nervous as a non savy nerd in ruining what I had got working. This change could be seen in the subtle renaming of the corrected one to. A few days later, a revised 'SR-1a' was released.

Microsoft first released 'SR-1' which had a botched product key verification.

Now I ask for assistance I am informed that Office 2000 is no longer supported and they gave me 2 links to forums. I currently have the same 4 cd set of Office 2000 Premium SR-1 as follows. V1.1 (June 25, 2002): Bulletin corrected to reflect that Office 2000 patches can install on SR-1a. After the migration I had my hand held by "microsoft technical support" and somehow solved all, updates appeared from the update centre. I recently reinstalled XP to SP3 + updates from microsoft auto download site with no problems. However Office 2000 Premium was initialy migrated from an old Win 98 computer and had similar validation and update problems which I am suffering now after the reinstall.
